Make beautiful etched DIY ornaments for Christmas using Glass Etch Vinyl Sheets made by StyleTech Craft. This is a sponsored post but all ideas and opinions are my own.
Now that Halloween has passed I’m all about Christmas decorating! I love handmade ornaments, and most of the ornaments on my tree are made by my kids and me. They bring back special memories every year when we unpack them and hang them up again.
I used my laser cutting machine to make these ornaments, but you can also make them with cardstock or even use an unfinished wood ornament from the dollar store to make this project. The most important part is the Glass Etch Vinyl which is GORGEOUS! It comes in six different colors so you can vary your ornaments. Etching cream is corrosive and can damage your sinks, so I prefer to use this Glass Etch Vinyl to create the same look without the damage!
Etched DIY Ornaments Supplies Used
- Glass Etch Vinyl by StyleTech Craft
- 3mm Basswood Sheet
- First Christmas Cut File
- Clear Acetate Sheets
- Craft Markers
- Mod Podge
- Superfine Glitter
- Pouncer Tool
- Superglue
First cut the ornaments from wood (or cardstock). The cut the clear acetate to fit inside the ornament. Finally, cut the glass etch vinyl and weed it.
I stained or painted the ornaments, then I mixed Mod Podge with glitter that I pounced all over the ornament. This gives it a soft glitter finish that won’t shed all over the place!
Transfer the Glass Etch Vinyl design to the acetate, and glue it onto the ornament back.
All that’s left to do is add a string and hang these beautiful ornaments up! The vinyl makes the plastic acetate backing look like glass, and the sparkly ornament will glitter and shine on your tree for years to come!
