Nautical Tank Top Tutorial
When I lived on the East Coast I loved to shop at H&M. I would have suffered withdrawals after I moved, were it not for internet shopping and Goodwill San Antonio! I often find some of my favorite name brands at the thrift store. I recently scored this like new striped H&M dress at Goodwill San Antonio for a mere $1.99. It was a bit too short for me, so I restyled it into a fun summer top. I used my Silhouette Cameo, heat set vinyl, and the rhinestone starter kit to make over my … [Read more...]

Coastal Centerpiece made from Fish Bowl
Even though I don't live near the ocean, I'm an island girl at heart. I absolutely love the ocean, hearing the waves, and spending days on the beach. Since the beach is several hours away (and, let's be honest, Texas beaches are not the best in the world!) I have to settle for bringing a bit of the beach home. Coastal themed decor is a great way to incorporate beach items into your decorating, and summertime is the perfect time for maritime themed items. Here's how you can take an old fish … [Read more...]

It's non fraying and doesn't fade, so it's perfect to use with die cuts and for outdoor projects. I used the American flag with this Fourth of July bunting, but you can adapt the colors for any flag you like. This patriotic banner was inspired by this Pottery Barn product. For more Oly-Fun projects, click HERE. I've made a … [Read more...]
Painted American Flag Shutter Decor DIY
I just love to craft with thrifted items! It's fun to reimagine something that was no longer needed and turn it into a bit of home decor. That's exactly what I did with these mini shutters that I found at Goodwill San Antonio. These small shutters measure about 15 inches long, but you could do the same thing with full size shutters, which I see all the time at thrift stores. With a little paint those old shutters turned into a fun piece of patriotic decor! (Love to craft with thrifted … [Read more...]

Graduation Sayonara Doll Tutorial
When I lived in Japan I learned about a beautiful tradition: the Sayonara Doll. These wood dolls, similar to kokeshi dolls, were wrapped in paper and silk fabric. For military spouses, these dolls were presented to people who were leaving the island. Friends would inscribe "sayonara" messages on the paper scroll, and the person moving left with a lot of memories and a beautiful memento. I have several of these beautiful dolls, and they mean so much to me. One was from the spouses in … [Read more...]
