Make stacked pumpkins to decorate with this fall.
I’m so happy that metallics are still popular this year! I think copper is a great metallic accent, especially for fall. Even though it’s still really hot where I live and fall doesn’t actually happen here (ok, maybe for a few days) I still like to decorate my home for autumn.
I used copper paste to make these artificial pumpkins look more glam. Then I arranged them to create an elegant stacked pumpkin centerpiece. This pretty piece of home decor is easy to create, and you can use artificial or paper mache pumpkins instead of real ones to create a piece that can be used for many years.
Supplies Used to make Stacked Pumpkins Decor:
- Two artificial pumpkins
- Large candleholder
- Orange Craft Paint
- White Milk Paint
- Copper Metallic Texture Paste from DecoArt
- Artificial Leaves
- Hot Glue Gun
I am using paper mache pumpkins, so I had to paint the pumpkin with an orange base color. I used two applications of orange paint to get a rich color. If you purchase decorative pumpkins then you can skip this step.
Paint the candle holder with the white milk paint. Let each layer of paint dry before adding the next. I used two layers of paint to cover the column.
Use a short bristled brush to paint the Copper paste onto the pumpkins. I like to brush it onto the raised surfaces to highlight them. I brushed it on most of the pumpkin surfaces since I really wanted them to shine, but only hit the raised portions of the candle holder. Work one section at a time, and buff it with a soft cloth to intensify the metallic shine.
Tip: If your paste has dried out some, add a spoonful or two of water and let it sit for about an hour to moisten the paste.
Assemble the centerpiece! Begin by hot gluing artificial leaves to the candle holder.
Next, glue the larger pumpkin onto the candle holder over the leaves.
Glue more leaves on, and top it with the smaller pumpkin.
The copper paste gives the artificial pumpkins a very elegant finish. This would make an eye catching centerpiece for Thanksgiving. It would also look great on a mantle as part of your fall decorating. Pair them with these leaf bowl votive holders
to create gorgeous fall home decor. Have fun crafting and creating!
