There’s a shark at the beach! Recycle old wall art into fun land shark vinyl art to add some humor to any space. This is a sponsored post with StyleTech Craft but all ideas and opinions are my own.
If you’ve followed me for a while you might remember when I was entertaining myself by transferring fun images to thrift store canvas prints. I always get a kick out of transforming a dull or outdated print by adding something hilarious and unexpected. As I was digging through my craft stash I found this wood home decor that I bought at Goodwill some time ago. The theme matched one of our bathrooms, but it was kind of boring. I used some of my favorite vinyl finishes to update the piece and make it much more interesting. It looks better now, don’t you agree?

I wanted the shark to have a shiny, wet looking appearance, and the polished metal vinyls were perfect for creating that effect. Check out the closeup pic below to really see the difference in the vinyl finishes. I had to use a glittery vinyl for the flamingo float because how else would a flamingo float look? It HAS to sparkle! I used the matte removable vinyl for the other cuts because the matte provides a nice contrast to the high shine of the other vinyls.
The trickiest part is layering the vinyl. I started by lifting the outline first using clear transfer tape. Then I added each element. I don’t mind being a little off…to me it makes it look like a printed comic book image.
This piece of wall art looks so much better now, don’t you think? I can’t wait to use more fun vinyl finishes to make more wall decor to brighten up my rooms with!
