These outdoor movie night pillows help create the PERFECT setting for a get together. This is a sponsored post with Fairfield World but all ideas and opinions are my own.
It’s finally becoming bearable to be outside where I live in Central Texas. Fall is when my family heads outdoors to take advantage of the beautiful weather. One of our favorite things to do on the weekend is have an outdoor movie night.
In the past we have placed a tarp on the ground and covered it with blankets. This works out OK, but the ground is still pretty firm and the blankets get moved around when someone turns or tries to get up. I found THE WAY to make everyone happy, and it’s so easy to set up!
First I hit the end of summer clearance sales to grab inflatable pools for cheap. I loved the fun colors on these watermelon pools.
Then I purchased minky fabric in fun colors to make pillows with. The easiest way to get an assortment of pillows on a budget is to buy them in bulk. Fairfield World offers several items in bulk, including pillows. These packs are an incredible value and a great way to get a LOT of pillows quickly for a big project like this one. I liked that I could use a variety of sizes of pillow inserts to create a couch-like setting in the inflatable pools.
I stuck with a very simple pillow design so I could sew a lot of them quickly. Check out my tie dye pillow tutorial to see how easy it is to sew a basic pillow without needing zippers or buttons, or watch the short video tutorial above to see how easy it is to make.
After the pillows were made, all I had to do was inflate the pools and line the bottom with a blanket. Add a stack of cushiony soft pillows to sit and lay on, and wait for the sun to set.
Have fun crafting and creating the perfect outdoor lounge space for movie night!
