Learn how to revamp your coat by adding gorgeous faux fur fabric as accents! This is a quick project but the impact is huge. I loved this vibrant red pea coat that I found on Amazon, and I wanted to make it more my style. I grabbed some remnant leopard print fabric I had from this dental chair furniture flip project and got to work!
Supplies Needed to Revamp Your Coat
- Wool Pea Coat (I used this one found on Amazon)
- Faux fur fabric (choose a color that complements your coat)
- Fabric scissors
- Needle and thread
- Fabric Glue (optional)
- Measuring tape
- Pins
Step 1: Assess Your Coat
Examine your coat to identify areas where faux fur can be added. Common areas include collars, cuffs, and hoods.
Step 2: Choose the Right Faux Fur
Select faux fur fabric that matches the style and color of your coat. Consider the length and texture of the fur to ensure a cohesive look.
Step 3: Measure and Cut
Using a measuring tape, measure the areas where you want to add faux fur. Cut the faux fur fabric accordingly, leaving a little extra for adjustments. My cuffs were 11 inches long by 3 inches wide. Then I cut triangles to cover the lapels.
Step 5: Attach Faux Fur
I sewed my on (see the video tutorial) but you can also use fabric glue. If you’re using fabric glue, carefully apply it to the back of the faux fur and press it onto the desired areas of the coat. Allow it to dry according to the glue’s instructions.
Once the faux fur is securely attached and trimmed, style your revamped coat. Showcase the transformation and flaunt your unique, personalized piece. I love leopard print, so this revamped coat will fit in perfectly with my wardrobe. Have fun crafting and creating an updated coat that is uniquely YOU!
