How to Make a Gum ball Shirt
This colorful gum ball shirt, with balls that move around, is sure to bring a smile to any child's face! If you've been reading my blog, you may have noticed that I make a lot of things with items from the Dollar Tree, like this bowl and this easel. During one of my recent visits to DT I found a lot of nice quality T-shirts, and for $1 I couldn't pass them up. This is my first completed project: a fun gum ball shirt with balls that move! I used my Silhouette and a shape from their … [Read more...]
Embellished Wood Candlesticks Tutorial
We moved into a new house last year, and I have been eager to make it feel like home. There is only so much painting and stenciling one can do at first, so in the meantime I am crafting little projects to give our space my touch. I fell in love with these wood candlesticks and decided they would be a nice way to add some interest to my master bathroom. These candlesticks are so nicely made that I didn't have to sand or prime them. Two coats of spray paint covered them … [Read more...]
Candlestick Topiary
This beautiful home decor item was very easy and fun to make! Make your own paper flowers to create a gorgeous floral topiary. First I painted a 3 inch candlestick with crackle paint to give it an aged look. Then I cut out my flowers using a shape from silhouette. Making the flowers was the most time consuming part of the process! You could also use premade flowers to speed things up. I misted the paper lightly with water so I could use the toothpick to curl the petals. This … [Read more...]
Teacher gifts for Christmas
I know, it's almost Valentine's Day and I am just now getting around to posting what I made for the boys' teachers for Christmas. Better late than never! The rings and bookmarks/paper clips were so easy to make! Just use some E-6000 to glue the resin flowers (also called cabochons) to the glue pad on the ring blank or clip blank. The tags are more involved but so fun to play with! I painted the wood tags with distress paints and let them dry. Then I cut the shapes out with vinyl (using … [Read more...]
The Chair: Image to Wood Tag Transfer
This project is for another fun Moxie Fab challenge. I have been experimenting with using gel medium to add images to wood. (Click HERE to learn how to transfer images with gel medium.) I painted gel medium onto the chair image from a Teresa Collins paper, then adhered it to a wood tag. After it dried overnight I wet the paper and rubbed it off. The image is left on the wood. Very cool! I used the tag to present a gift: the ring I made with the black resin flower. Some crackle paint … [Read more...]
Another Moxie Fab World Challenge
So the latest challenge is paper piecing! This is another something I've been playing with....I've been Moxie Fab and didn't even know it! Woo hoo! LOL!I made this card for Andy's birthday. I wanted the rings with the kid's pictures to look like bottle caps, and the effect I had in mind was a sort of garden and they are the flowers. My husband interpreted it as they were balloons...that works, too! :) … [Read more...]
