crayon-caddy

This adorable art supply caddy is perfect for little hands.  No more dumping all the crayons out to find a certain color!  It’s also made from recycled items.

In typical Morena fashion, I was shopping one day and saw a really cute crayon holder.  I picked it up to look at the price and then put it down.  I figured there had to be a way to make my own.  So I kept looking for items that were the right size to make it.  And, finally, I found them:  in my recycle bin!

I used a plastic cap from spray paint, a cap from a juice bottle, and a toilet paper tube!

I glued the orange cap inside the toilet paper tube, about an inch from the bottom.

Then I covered everything with washi tape and glued the tube inside the paint can top.

I punched a two inch circle from scrap paper and glued it to the base, to make it look neater.

Finally, I sealed the project with Mod Podge, to keep busy little fingers from peeling all the tape off.

The inner circle holds a glue stick and pair of scissors, while the outside holds a ring of crayons.

My daughter couldn’t wait for me to finish taking pictures so she could color!

Another project that is fast and frugal, but still looks fabulous!

Thank you so much for letting me hang out with you today.  You can also find me on FacebookTwitter, and Pinterest.  Have a wonderful day!

  1. That is so cute, and would be great for end of year’s teacher’s gifts! Lovely photos, too. 🙂

  2. Love this! Would also love to know where you are able to find washi tape for $1. I so want to build my collection, but everywhere I see it, it is so expensive!
