Make fake eyeballs DIY decor!
Are you looking for a spooky yet not too scary Halloween decor project to make? This craft is a fun project for families to make together! Create fake eyeballs in a jar to decorate with this Halloween. These jars make a fun addition to a haunted house or a mad scientist themed party.
Fake Eyeballs DIY Decor Supplies
- Durafoam Balls – White, 1/5 inches
- Permanent Markers
- Green Glass Mason Jar
- Clear Storage Jar
- Cheesecloth
- Distress Spray Stain
- Mod Podge Sheers Tint
Step one: To tint clear jars, pour a generous amount of Mod Podge Sheer colors into the container. Swirl the Mod Podge around, and let the excess drip out. Set the jar aside to dry completely. If you don’t want to tint your jars, just order one that has colored glass, like the green jar that I used.
Step two: Use the black fabric marker to draw a circle on the Styrofoam ball. Make a smaller circle inside the larger circle as pictured.
Step three: Use various colors to fill-in the fake eyeballs. I used brown, blue, and green which are all found in the Darice fabric markers set.
Step four: Use a red fabric marker to randomly draw in vein’s on the fake eyebrows.
Step five: Place the cheese cloth in a cardboard box or in a sink. Spray the fabric generously with the vintage colored Distress spray stain. Let the fabric dry completely.
Step six: Fill the jars with the fake eyeballs.
Step seven: Place the tinted cheese cloth over the jars, and tie a piece of ribbon around the mouth of the jar. Pull the cloth down tightly, then trim off the excess fabric.
The tinted color of the jars makes it look like the eyeballs are floating in water! It’s creepy and humorous at the same time. Have fun crafting and creating Halloween decor!
