When I sleep, the room needs to be completely dark for me to be comfortable. Any light in the room and I just can't fall asleep! My husband can nod off with the TV or radio on, but not me. Pitch black room, please! My kids are a completely different story. They HAVE to have a light on in their rooms at bedtime. All four of them insist on some sort of night light or they just cannot sleep! One of my sons needs a very bright light, the other two prefer a soft light, and my daughter likes her … [Read more...]
Back to School Teacher Gift: Decorated Hand Sanitizer Bottles
“This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Sharpie, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #StaplesBTS http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV” When I was a classroom teacher, one of my essential desk supplies was hand sanitizer. As any parent can attest to, a room full of children can get pretty germy! I always kept a small bottle in my desk for personal use, but I appreciated when parents would donate large bottles for classroom use. Now … [Read more...]
DIY Muppet Family Vinyl Car Decals
Growing up, I was a HUGE fan of The Muppet Show. I watched every episode, I had the plush animals, the t-shirts, the magazines, and my walls were full of Muppet posters. I bought a new Muppet calendar every year. I loved the characters and the quirky humor, and I still do. I am so happy that all of my favorite characters from The Muppet Show are still around today so I can share the humor and joy of this iconic show with my children. Most recently, we shared a … [Read more...]

It can be a challenge to find activities that all my kids can enjoy, but I have found a lot of fun, inexpensive, family friendly ideas from the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club. … [Read more...]

DIY Shark Themed Jewelry: Pendants and a Ring
Since it's shark week, I have to share my shark story with you. My family was on vacation in Myrtle Beach four years ago, and my two oldest sons and I were having fun jumping in the waves together. I had one son in my arms and was holding the other's hand as we jumped in waist deep water. At one point, I looked over at my oldest son and at that moment saw a shark swim right by him. I thought I was seeing things, but the shark turned and starting gliding back towards him. I can honestly say … [Read more...]

Make an Italian Shakerato with International Delight Iced Coffees
I like coffee a LOT. "Like" might be an understatement. I have a coffee bar instead of a wine bar, and the Napolitan caffettiera is a big part of my dining room decor. I'm a coffee addict. The One Thing that Makes Me Wish I was Back in Junior High School
My oldest child starts middle school next year. I'm excited for him and dreading it at the same time. The middle school years were so awkward for me, and I'm sure I'm not alone! It is fun to hear him muse about things like, "How will I remember my locker combination?" as well as lament how there will be no recess. Oh, the life of a 12 year old! I'll admit, I have no desire to go back to junior high, but there is ONE thing I wish I'd had back then: … [Read more...]
