I thought of my dad when I came up with this card to enter in this Moxie Fab challenge. This will be my second Christmas without him. We were always travelling for the holidays, either him to see us or the other way around. Thus the map I used to make the truck. In 2009, however, I chose to stay in PA instead of going home. I reasoned that it was my daughter's first Christmas and we were moving back to Texas in 6 months, so we would spend 2010 with … [Read more...]
Make Personalized Wood Blocks
I've been asked a few times to share how I made these blocks for my son's room, so here goes. These are really easy and fun to make! 1. Paint two inch square blocks with one coat of paint. 2. Cut paper into two inch squares. Distress the edges. Apply to wood blocks with Mod Podge. 3. Adhere stickers and chipboard. Age them with distress ink. (I used "vintage photo" distress ink. I cut a scrap of felt, wad it up, dab it on the ink pad, and then rub in a circular motion on the … [Read more...]
Moxie Fab Medallion Challenge
Here's another fun challenge at Moxie Fab World: the medallion challenge. I play along with all the challenges in my head, and even sketch ideas out; but actually making anything has been a challenge lately. That's why it was so much fun to actually complete these!I saw the medallion as a fun sun accent. For the rest of the card, I used the positive and negative images of the tricycle to make a thank you card to pair with the invitation. … [Read more...]
The Circus Maximus
I've added few more things since these pictures were taken, but until I update (kind of hard to do with a newborn!) here is Max's circus themed nursery. I love it!The incredible circus tent was made by my sister...check her out on Etsy at Free Rose Studio.Want to see more? I added more pictures and details in this post. … [Read more...]
Circus Elephant Wall Art
I love how this came out! I am decorating the baby's nursery in a vintage circus theme. I used my Silhouette cutter and papers from Jenni Bowlin's October papercrafting kit to get this done. This circus elephant wall art is the first of three pieces...I hope to tackle the other two soon! To see more pictures of my son's circus themed nursery, please visit THIS post. Thanks for looking! … [Read more...]
The Home Decor Challenge
I love these postcard kits from Crafty Secrets!! I like that you have all the coordinating materials in one place, and then you're free to embellish them any way you want! I mailed these to two dear friends and they were both so tickled to receive them! One hung hers in her kitchen (and complains that no one has cleaned it for her!) and the other hung hers over her desk. … [Read more...]
The Gift Card Holder Challenge
I really have fun making these pocket cards...the inserts can be personalized with pictures, messages, doodles, etc! I made these with gift cards in mind. I can write a message on the lined insert, and attach the gift card to the second insert that goes in the back pocket! … [Read more...]
The Cards Set Challenge
I had sooo much fun making this set! I made it with my niece in mind...she has a birthday this month and I thought a tween might like a fun, shiny set of cards. I've had these micro beads for ages and have been looking for a use for them! The pictures don't capture how pretty these cards really are, and I will see if I can get some better pics this weekend and update. … [Read more...]
Baby Boy Photo Pockets
Rather than just handing my mom and my in-laws our most recent ultrasound pictures, I made these little photo pockets to show off our newest little man. I had once purchased a mini-scrapbook made entirely of folded brown paper bags and have wanted to copy the idea. So I cut off the end of the bag, folded it to create two pockets, and then made the inserts. I'm tickled with the way they came out, and the recipients loved the gift of photos! … [Read more...]
Hot Air Balloon Re-imagined
I have really enjoyed the recent trend involving hot air balloons in crafts, but I don't have any hot air balloon stamps. I started looking at my Tim Holtz fragments and thought that turned upside down they could look like hot air balloons! Serendipity! I embossed some charms with red embossing powder to create the little baskets under the balloons. I like how these tags came out!As luck would have it, the Tuesday Trigger incorporates the colors I chose for my … [Read more...]
